Battleground
We have recently watched an excellent documentary about Iraq called "Battleground". Unlike most news reports this documentary seeks to spend some time in Iraq and look more deeply at the whole war issue. Neither pro-war nor anti-war, this series of encounteres allows the viewer to experience the reality of life during wartime Iraq firsthand. The question is, what did you learn from this documentary that you didn't know before, and how has this changed your view of things?

For me the most touching moment by far was Frank's reunion with his uncle. After a 13 year exile in the U.S. Frank came back to Baghdad and looked up his old family. They had lost touch with him and thought he might be dead. When Frank turned up his uncle did not recognize him at first, and then when he did recognize him there was great emotion, embracing, and crying. I really found this part touching. Just in case we weren't fully aware of it before, this scene made us realize the devasting effects of the war(s) on ordinary Iraqi people, and how important family is to them.
